The international ministry of IAM was founded in Chile in 1977 where a U.S. missionary couple began work in Maipú, a suburb of Greater Santiago. Over the years, IAM team members have planted several churches in Maipú and beyond, including
  • Los Heroes. The parent church has a thriving membership of several hundred. The youth group, culto.com, is a model for youth ministries in other communities. Mission teams travel annually and new missionaries have been sent out from this dynamic suburban church.
  • Estrella del Oriente. A second U.S. couple founded this church in the early 1990s. Having grown to 300 members and now led by a Chilean, the church also runs a school for 300 children. Oriente Church has also sent out missionaries.
  • Libertad. Formerly a church, Libertad is now a training center for missionaries and church leadership.
  • El Encuentro. Founded in the early 1980s, a Chilean pastors this church of 200 members. The church runs a preschool and sends mission teams annually. Out of El Encuentro another church was formed in a poor area called San Luís.
  • San Luís. Founded in 1991, San Luís Church is home to 75 members. A weekly children's feeding program began in 1991. A school was built in 2004, serving 200 children. A strong youth program sends teams to Ecuador and Peru each year.
  • Lautaro. IAM missionaries have been working with the Mapuche Indians since 2000; today more than 100 are touched by the work. Cell groups meet twice monthly. Chilean missionaries are training indigenous leaders. A medical clinic and christian center will be built.
Beyond Chile's borders In 1990 the Maipú ministry team began its first international work in San Borondón, Ecuador. In 1996 the IAM team began evangelizing in Tacna, Peru. Since then, U.S. and Chilean missionaries lead youth mission teams to Ecuador and Peru nearly every year, supporting the churches planted there. An international team is moving into an even broader area of ministry, training Latinos and forming teams to go into the Middle East to share the love of Christ.
